Before I start writing about what I really want to discuss, this is a wonderful photo by a local photographer Soroush Mostafanejad taken yesterday on his walk in Fair Oaks. Sometimes it's good to let a little time pass, let the dust settle, before reacting - it helps achieve a more objective view: During a recent congressional hearing, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. told lawmakers, "I don't think people should be taking medical advice from me." This, in response to a question about whether he'd vaccinate his own children during a major measles outbreak. But here’s the problem: as the nation’s top health official, giving clear, science-based guidance is part of the job. Deflecting responsibility undermines public trust—especially during a health crisis. Even more concerning, Kennedy is backing deep budget cuts to the very agencies responsible for protecting public health, including an $18 billion cut to the NIH. Leadership requires clarity, not retreat. If the Health Secretary won’t speak clearly on vaccines, who will? #vaccine #obgyn #ladydocfolsom #ruthhaskinsmd
