 I had a wonderful time this weekend, at the CMA House of Delegates, with much representing, networking, and celebrating the power of so many unified voices among divergent practices and backgrounds. This election cycle is perhaps one of the most consequential in living memory. Let's at least make our views heard. The 19th Amendment of 1920 did not affirmatively grant the vote of all women to vote. The text simply says: “The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or any state on account of sex.”favoring in effect white women, by default. It was not until the Voting Rights Act of 1965, that all women could vote and different forms of state voter suppression were quelled enabling all women of color to also cast their ballots. Voting rights have been hard fought and earned, over decades to achieve this simple right for all women. A right that we now take for granted. Let us vote to maintain our rights, including our civil rights, the right to medical care for all, and the choice of what we do with our bodies! #vote #obgyn #ladydocfolsom #ruthhaskinsmd |
