This week, the Supreme Court ruled that states can block Medicaid patients from using Planned Parenthood—even when it’s the only nearby provider for reproductive and preventive care. At the same time, Planned Parenthood affiliates announced the closure of at least 20 clinics across several states including Minnesota, Michigan, Utah, New York, and a few others. This means fewer that there will be places for patients to get birth control, STI screenings, cancer checks, and yes, abortion care, but also all the routine exams so many women rely on. For many, Planned Parenthood isn't “an option.” It is the only option. The loss of these clinics will create real gaps in care, especially in rural and low-income communities. No matter where you stand politically, this is about access to basic health services. We can and must do better as a country! www.ruthhaskinsmd.com #plannedparenthood #betterhealthcare #obgyn #ladydocfolsom #ruthhaskinsmd ...... sometimes we need to remember the important things in life. www.ruthhaskinsmd.com #obgyn #ladydocfolsom #ruthhaskinsmd On June 19, 1865, Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, to announce the end of the Civil War and the emancipation of enslaved African Americans—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued.
